    is there a way to make an image not be able to be right clicked and saved?

    You can absolute position a transparent div over the image.

    But it doesn't prevent someone from viewing the source and seeing the img tag and the URL to fetch it manually.

    is there not an option available to disable that from happening if you are using a gwt Image widget?

    I'm not a GWT guy (there's help forums for that).

    There really isn't anything you can do. Put a picture on my screen, and at the very least I can take a picture of it with the camera in my phone. Or use a screen grabber (like snipper tool built into Windows 7).

    If you don't want the image to be used, don't use it. Otherwise, watermark the picture, obscure the source, disable right-click, and slice the image up into a thousand pieces and use a table to put it back together. And when you are all done with that, I'll pull the image out of my browser cache.
