Default Answered: WebDriver support needed for stc?

In the Event Recorder section of the online docs, there is a compatibility matrix that shows:

    Browser In-Browser WebDriver
    Chrome
    Firefox
    Edge
    IE11

Long term, I want to run end-to-end test scenarios using stc under Jenkins. As best as I can tell from the docs, I have to use WebDriver to use stc (in Test Engineer Mode).

Does the above compatibility matrix mean that I cannot test using IE11 via stc/Jenkins since WebDriver is not supported for IE11?

    Thanks,
    Fred

  2. Hi Fred--

You can use IE 11 + WebDriver via STC. The compatibility matrix is for using the WebDriver-based Event Recorder. Running the tests does not have the same limitations, so you should be fine.

    Thanks!

Would I be able to use Chrome + Event Recorder to help me generate my test scenarios, and then use those scenarios to test against IE11?

In other words, is the test code generated by using Event Recorder + Chrome compatible with running the test against IE11?

    Thanks,
    Fred

Yes, that should work just fine. There shouldn't be anything in the output from the Event Recorder that is browser-specific.

    Thanks!
