Thread: ST.future.Component rendered method works with webdriver based tests

  1. #1

Default ST.future.Component rendered method works with webdriver based tests

According to documentation, rendered method is not supported for WebDriver-based tests

I tried this method in my tests and it behaves as designed: Waits for this component to be rendered

Is the documentation not correct? Is there a bug in ST in this case?

I am using it exactly as it is described but in a WebDriver based test.

    Hi--

The method will generally work, and always return true, for a component retrieved via a selector. The real purpose of rendered() is to be able to pass an actual unrendered component instance to ST.component() (or another futures method) and have it "wait" until something within the application logic brings the component to a rendered state.

With WebDriver scenarios, you'll never have access to an unrendered component instance within the context of your spec, so the actual intention of rendered() will not be realized.

    Thanks!
