Default Ext Modern 6.2.1 Tooltips : How to use them

    Hi,

Below is a fiddle containing two textfields with tooltips set.

    https://fiddle.sencha.com/#view/editor&fiddle/1phk

In the preview pane, If you select the textfields, you can see that the tooltips do appear.

But, in preview mode(https://fiddle.sencha.com/fiddle/1phk/preview), the same does not happen, also verified this on the actual device.

Is this a bug or was I missing something?

    Thank you,
    Nagarjuna

    Hi--,

I'm seeing the tooltips in both the Fiddle and the Preview mode of my browser. Have you added the configs as described in the What's New of the API docs?

    Hi,

Were you using the fiddle I have provided?

If so, I have now updated the code to specify the align and anchor configs (also tried to specify Application.quickTips to true/false, but didn't make a difference)

I forgot to mention, in the preview mode, if you view the fiddle without any device emulator (I am using chrome), then the tooltips do appear (even the align and anchor values are reflected too)

Below are some exact replication steps:

    1. Open a new tab in chrome, open developer tools, enable the device mode (click Toggle Device toolbar), select any device (any tablet or phone)
    2. browse https://fiddle.sencha.com/fiddle/1phk/preview, set focus on the textfields

You'll notice that the tooltips do not appear.

Note: It is important that you do steps 1&2 in order, doing 2 and then 1 seems to not show any problems(i.e tooltips do appear)
The problem also happens when you browse the fiddle(preview mode) in any actual device (I have tried this on an Android phone with chrome)

If you are using a different fiddle, and is working as expected, could you post the link to it?

    Thank you,
    Nagarjuna

You might take a look at the Kitchen Sink example, it seems to work in the developer tools.

have you clicked the Toggle Device toolbar button in developer tools?

also, have you browsed the examples page with desktop mode first (i.e no dev tools, or without clicking the toggle device toolbar & selecting any device)?
if so, please open a tab first, open dev tools, click toggle device toolbar, select a device & then enter the url in address bar and hit enter.

instead of all this, could you browse the kitchensink example on a phone or tablet? and verify the tooltips work as expected?
for me, i could not browse the tooltips, it redirects me to components page, and in components I did not see the link to tooltips
(but, when you select the 'request desktop site' option of chrome, everything works as expected, i could see a link to tooltips & clicking it would show me the tooltip examples)

I confirm the issue. There's no tooltip example on modern framework. With the link provided (http://examples.sencha.com/extjs/6.2...odern#tooltips) it just ignores the "?modern" and forwards for the desktop kitchen sink's tooltip example if browsing from a desktop browser.

If you follow these steps no tooltip example would be shown at all:
    - open chrome with a blank tab
    - open developer tools
    - enable device emulation mode
    - browse now to http://examples.sencha.com/extjs/6.2...odern#tooltips
    - it will show modern toolkit examples root -- not an example at all.

Yet, making a container (or any inherent component) with a tooltip renders nothing. No error nor result, even if we browse from a desktop browser. The fiddle in the beginning of the thread reproduced the issue perfectly to me.

Both setting the tooltip with tooltip: "My Tooltip" or tooltip: { Ext.tip.Tooltip definition here } renders the same result. No error, no output whatsoever.

Hope this additional feedback helps reproducing the issue on your side!

    Just to clarify:
    - the example linked above works from desktop (with no mobile emulation) because Sencha examples redirects the user if the detected browser is a not a mobile browser
    - the fiddle linked first post does not work from desktop because it uses modern toolkit regardless of browser
