Default Sencha cmd v6.2.1.29 Failed creating background process on Debian

Title pretty much says it all. Here is the full error:
Unfortunately I have seen other threads on this, most of which that have to do with ruby not being installed.
Ruby is already installed here and is version 2.4.0p0 (2016-12-24 revision 57164) [x86_64-linux]

    Here is the full error.

[ERR] com.sencha.exceptions.ExProcess: Failed creating background process at sun.reflect.GeneratedMethodAccessor26.invoke(Unknown Source)
    [ERR] Total time: 13 seconds

Anyone have any idea what this could be? All other threads on this same error seem to have to do with Ruby.

I did see an issue with Phantom incompatibility on CentOS with gc libs . That customer was able to address it by using a different version of CentOS. Perhaps a similar issue in Debian? Can you try on another machine with a different version?
