    Default Treelistitems text not bindable?

Why can I not bind the text property of treelistitems? There is a setText function as well as a getText function (even though it does not appear in the documentation). So why is the text not bindable?

If you mean binding text field of one of the records in your treelist store, it seems to work:

If that's not what you are trying to do, create a fiddle showing how your treelist works.

The issue here is I have an internationalization key on the record. The text needs to bind outside of the record to the translated string that corresponds to the key. Those strings are stored at the top level of the viewmodels. When I set that bind it sets to the underlying node and never gets the string.
