    This can usually be achieved by optimizing your code. It would be hard to give you a blanket answer with no code.

    IE is slow, but you should not see this if your code is correct, but you can turn this noticed off in IE settings.

    Often there's not much you can do, because your users don't want to be told how they need to set their browser(s) just to use your app.

    So I would use the developer tools to profile your app and identify those long running processes.

    Can you break some of them up so they are not so long running? Which can be made more efficient? Anything you can do on the server side? How about a little re-architecting?
