Sencha Touch or ExtJS...
Hello,
For applications that need to work on both Desktop and Tablet, which is a better choice?
Touch or Ext JS?
If using Ext JS, my understanding is that it will work on both.
If we carefully design the UI, such as fonts and spacing of components, it would make a better tablet user experience.
On the other hand, if using Touch, would it even work on Desktop because of Touch features that will not work on Desktop?
Thanks.

Touch features work on the desktop, but your main issue is the drag to scroll.

The browser compatibility of Sencha Touch is a bit limited.
As far as I known, Sencha Touch doesn't work on Internet Explorer, FireFox and Opera. For best browser support, including the older Internet Explorer versions, you do need Ext JS. You can't ignore that, as desktop developer.

hi jay,
can you comment on mrduck's observation?
we are about to start developing this app using Architect and needs to pick either Ext JS or Touch.
looks like the safer bet is go with Ext JS and design the UI to be Tablet friendly.
thoughts?
thanks.

ExtJS on tablets will not be supported until ExtJS5. Which will be released sometime in 2014.
