Default EXT as a Game Engine? Sure...

A couple weeks ago I started a FPS game. You can see it here:

I am at the point where the enemies need to randomly move and shoot. But I am stuck. If anyone wants to help finish, that would be cool. I am just not proficient at the ANIM methods yet.

Anyways, thought I would post it here in hopes of recruiting some help. It's just for fun, and just for learning, not a *real* game.

    Thank you.

Thank go out to Tim and Animal for helping me get this far.

hey John, that is an awesome start...

it is coincidental that I am working on a game too -- a world strategy/domination game -- I have the UIs done now I am working on the combat system.. your game has inspired me to make mine a little more action oriented

Sorry I couldn't do more Jack. I have tried my best, and I cannot do the ANIM thing. I am studying, however, and plan on finishing.

    Glad you liked it.

I had to go back for a second look! Maybe after the 1.0 release is official I can help out. BTW, if/when you get this finished please let me know. I would love to put it somewhere on the site (a show case area?).

Excellent intro and very creative! I don't know much about js games but you better watch out you don't get dugg on that.

    Made a little progress.

When you press the "f" key now , it will simulate what happens when you are shot.

Marching on.... just having a prob with random enemy movements.

    Feature requests

    Cheats
Cheat codes should be invoked by typing a word, phrase, key sequence or making a mouse click or gesture (or combo thereof).

    Milestone 1.

    1. Unlimited ammo (or reset ammo to max_ammo).
Invoked by a cheat code that hails the Ext community. For example "ext is good" or eig. You just need a better slogan than that though.

    2. Immortality (or resurrection).
Cheat code should hail Jack Slocum.

    Milestone 2.

    1. Big Guns. (Gives you the best weapon available).
(Obviously this will have to wait until you have the weapons stuff sorted.)
Cheat code should hail Ext community contributors of note (Animal, tryanDLS, bmoeskau, JeffHowden etc).

    2. Unlock/open door/Escape from a cornered situation.
(This will have to wait until the anim and topology is in place.)
Cheat code should hail the grid.

Apparently, Herm, has failed to take note of my signature graphic.

    *pause while Herm looks *

    Ok, back to reality....

Dude your suggestions are kick ass, from a player's point of view. But my GOSH, help a newbie out....

(kidding, and I appreciate your interest )

Ok, when I say I am new at this, TRUST me, I am. This game is only as far as it because I know CSS , and Ext Element provides a kick ass way of manipulating elements.

    So...

I am at this point, where the game has started.

    Everything is initialized.

An enemy is even placed on the screen.

Now I need to randomly move that enemy within the 'enemy' div (horizontal) and IF he is not shot (clicked on) within a 1 second time period, then you are SHOT , calling the yourehit function.

If someone can show me, or help me get to that point, that would be cool.

It took me 9 days to write the code you see. Yes, 9 days. *oh ****!*

    Ciao

    JT
