    Looks like we can't reproduce the issue or there's a problem in the test case provided.

    Default [4.1 RC1] Collapse mode mini doesn't work

    If you set collpaseMode: 'mini' for border layout region then header (placeholder) is still visible after collapse
    Please see the following sample
    HTML Code:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
        <title>Border Layout Example</title>
        <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../resources/css/ext-all.css" />

        <!-- GC -->

        <script type="text/javascript" src="../../ext-all.js"></script>
        <script type="text/javascript">

    	 Ext.onReady(function () {
    		 var w = Ext.create("Ext.window.Window", {
    			 height: 350,
    			 width: 600,
    			 items: [{
    				 minWidth: 175,
    				 width: 175,
    				 html : "I collapse to nothing",
    				 region: "west",
    				 split: true,
    				 collapseMode : 'mini',
    				 collapsible: true,
    				 title: "West Panel"
    			 }, {
    				 xtype: "panel",
    				 region: "center",
    				 title : "Center Panel"
    			 }],
    			 layout: "border",
    			 title: "Simple Layout"
    		 });

    		 w.show();
    	 });
     </script>
    </head>
    <body></body>
    </html>
    But it works in this online sample (see South Western panel)

    This has already been fixed for the next release. Turns out the 4.1.0 releases didn't support it but it has been resolved.

    Do you mean it will be in next release of 4.1 or not supported in 4.1?

    It has been resolved for the nest release, it should work in RC2
