How to get a SelectField value

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my application. I have a SelectField with several options. Those options are saved inside a Ext.data.JsonStore. So when I choose the option from the selectfield, i'd like to access the item and retrieve one of his attributes to make a comparison. So, my question is how do i access the item. I've tried already to use a record without success. I have another record early on the application so when i call the record it shows me my other data and not the one i want. I'm a newbie here so forgive me if i'm making some wrong assumptions.
