    Thanks - I appreciate it! I'm actually intrigued to hear your findings, mostly to sanity check them with our own so by all means feel free to publish your data on 4.0.2RC. We'll take it as a challenge

    Hi Ed,

    Sorry to be the barer of bad news but the themes benchmarks are showing that 4.0.2 rc3 is slower that 4.0.1

    I've re-ran the 3.31 benchmarks also to ensure that the comparison is valid.

    Attached are my test results.

    I noted (visually) during the benchmarking that while the layout is being performed its more more erratic than in previous versions. i.e. the components are placed at unusual areas around the browser screen before they reach the final position.

    Let me know if you need any more info.

    Best Regards
    MrSparks

    Can you post the code that you use to get those stats?

    @Animal.

    examples\themes\index.html
    Add the following between the title and first css tag
    Code:
    <title>Ext JS 4 Themes</title>
    	<script>
    		var oneDay = 24*60*60*1000; // hours*minutes*seconds*milliseconds
    		var now = new Date();
    		var starthours = now.getHours();
    		var startminutes = now.getMinutes();
    		var startseconds = now.getSeconds();
    		var startmilli = now.getMilliseconds();
    		var date1 = new Date(2011,06,05,starthours,startminutes,startseconds,startmilli)
    	</script>
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../resources/css/ext-all.css" />

    examples\themes\themes.js
    Add the following between the last two closing braces at the bottom of the .js file.
    Code:
        });
    		var end = new Date();
    		var endhours = now.getHours();
    		var endminutes = end.getMinutes();
    		var endseconds = end.getSeconds();
    		var endmilli = end.getMilliseconds();
    		var date2 = new Date(2011,06,05,endhours,endminutes,endseconds,endmilli)
    		var diffDays = Math.abs((date1.getTime() - date2.getTime())/1000);
    		alert("Total Load and layout Time"+' ' +diffDays);
    });

    for my on-going new project, drop replace 4.0.1 commercial by 4.0.2 RC makes a huge difference.

    average loading time (including page load, initial data load, tree grid load, chart load all in one page) down from 40s to 19s

    though 19s to load an initial page (kind dashboard) is still not acceptable.

    btw, the deepest nested panel levels is three. I think this won't be a over nested case, will it?

    p.s. there is a bug of 4.0.2 RC, tree grid lost its arrow( or plus, never mind the value set to useArrow). since it is a RC, I am not going to raise a bug right now.

    btw, can sencha set up a more proper bug tracker system rather than forum posts? really inefficient in terms of search/track

    If you use bootstrap.js and you are serving up from your dev directory, it will be separately loading every single ExtJS source file required to run the app.

    So measuring loading time as part of that is extremely unrealistic.

    This dynamic source loading ability is VERY dangerous. You should only use it during development, and be extremely aware that it will be very slow.

    You should always use a built version of ext-all.js when testing for performance.

    Anyway, here is what I just got from IE8 (running in a VM), when I ran it using ext-all.js:

    There are more layout performance improvements planned.

    And Chrome is reporting 0.8 to 0.9 for the initial layout.

    I time from the start line of onReady to the end.

    I am looking very hard at the performance of layouts now.

    nothing about the theme examples, my stats of an on-going project is using ext-all-debug.js (19s load with 4.0.2 from 40s with 4.0.1). no significant changes if switch to ext-all.js (i guess that's because i am running in intranet?).
