View Full Version : How to make real Modal Dialog

16 Sep 2009, 11:02 AM
If I open new window with the property modal:true, it is not a real modal window, it does not suspend the further code execution until the window closed, just does not provide the access to the main window. The classic Windows of the modal dialog behavior is to suspend the further execution until the return.

Is there a way to do that? Thank you.

"JavaScript does not come with any threading primitives. As such, it's very hard to do any synchronization."

Browsers implement WC3 standards differently to begin with. So there's no way to guarantee which thread you're trying to suspend. Firefox uses single threading (I think) and sane garbage collection (except when it tosses events when there's too many que'd), IE, not so much (and highly dependent on version). In this case, what you are asking is not possible without more information.
