View Full Version : charts.swf in ext-all-debug.js

Hi, Why do I see a reference to YUI external site to access charts.swf in ext-all-debug.js ?

url: "http:/"+"/yui.yahooapis.com/2.5.1/build/charts/assets/charts.swf"

Extjs3.0 RC2 uses a local copy charts.swf in its resources , so Ext.chart.Chart can reference it right ?

Moreover 2.5.2 is just a older version. YUI already have 2.7.0 released.

Can this be reason for some people ( including me) finding it difficult to render pie charts ?

Is this going to be fixed in the upcoming versions ?

it's probably because Ext 3.0 was certified with that version.

Agreed but there was still no need to go an external site when there is a local copy in resources folder, Don't you think so or there was some other reason behind this ?

Yes, i raised this a long time ago.

I had the same question in this thread...not yet answered.

Thanks, that did resolve the problem. But looking into that raises 2 questions for me:

1. Since this is a known issue with IE, will this "cache buster" fix be incorporated into the the final release in some way? Don't want to have to add this qstr suffix every time I use a chart...should just be done automatically by EXT if I am using IE.

2. In the charts.js source code, the default url is

url: "http:/"+"/yui.yahooapis.com/2.5.1/build/charts/assets/charts.swf"

Yet the RC2 SDK includes the charts.swf, as I found when you suggested adding the url config parameter that uses a relative path to a local copy of charts.swf. Why is the default in charts.js not a relative path to the .swf file rather than referencing an external file hosted at yui.yahooapis.com? I'm not thrilled about having to rely on an external site (even though it is yahoo) in order for my charts to function.

I am not sure how to bring this to the Ext Team .

Also my pie chart does not render. Not sure if this is because of charts.swf but I have not yet received any response for my thread so far. Still struggling with different permutations :)
