View Full Version : Will ExtJS 3.0 fully supports RTL ?

I read same posts about RTL compatibility issue
E.g.: http://www.extjs.net/forum/showthread.php?t=9659&page=6

I read YarivYaari's instructions (http://extjs.com/forum/showthread.php?p=142026#post142026) for try to fix it but seem that it is a little bit hard job (at least for a newbie ExtJS developer like me)

I would like to know if Ext 3.0 final will directly fully supports RTL.
I must develop a new web application supporting multilanguage/localization.
Multilanguage for me means:

allow to display a page according browser (language) settings: this is very simple to do it with ExtJS; it is enough to add the propertly ext-lang js file

<script src="lib/extjs/build/locale/ext-lang-XX.js"></script>

But just in this case I have issue about RTL. How to set it ? where I must set it ?
Actualy in my pure HTML application, I set it only at HTML tag

<HTML dir="RTL">

allow to create a form with same fields using LTR and some other fields using RTL (because I must have a form when a user can translate a word in different languages.. of couse using UTF-8 encoding)

I try ExtJS 3.0 RC 1.1 and try to set only the HTML dir to RTL but it doesn't works well (e.g. in a FormPanel with same textfield with label, label still on the left...)

Any idea ?

Roberto -

There is a community effort to add RTL support to Ext JS. This is something that we intend to do in the future but will not be included in Ext 3.0. We made the decision to focus on ARIA and Section 508 compliance first, then we will look to address RTL.

I've got most of it working:
