View Full Version : SearchField without a datastore?

I would like to use an Ext.app.SearchField to allow a user to query my database for what the searchfield contains, not query a grid's datastore. I have my function written already to build my querystring and to perform the query. It pulls data back and will automatically load a data store to populate a results grid.

I would like to fire an event that call my own query function when the search icon is clicked from the SearchField. I am having trouble getting the event to fire correctly. Has anyone attempted something similar to this?

I only see examples to use the SearchField on a pre-loaded datastore, not to fire an event and then go do the query yourself.

Thanks in advance,

let the store do all the hard work for you; configure the store with an httpProxy and just call its load() event, passing the search field value as a param.
