Visual Studio plugin - problem and why is it needed

Dear all,

my first quesiton is what is the need for visual studio plugin?
is it necessary?
do I need to develop extjs apps?
another thing is after I download and try to install it I get following error - despite having visual studio 2012 premium installed.

The Visual Studio plugin requires VS 2013 or VS 2015.

I decided to go with Sencha architect, in that case I don't need that plugin right?

Yes, you should only need the plugin if you are planning to use the Visual Studio IDE.
