But it's not clear what does option 'merge' mean. What is that?

But it's not clear what does option 'merge' mean. What is that?

If there is a generated definition as well as a hand written definition; it will merge the configs as opposed to overwriting the generated definition config.

I'm not totally sure this is used in User Extensions at the moment to be honest.
