View Full Version : TVtoMobi app released - push notification based app with Sencha and phonegap

We’re in a soft-launch release for our second screen app called TVtoMobi and would love some feedback from Sencha developers. We were able to launch our iPhone, iPad, Android smartphone and Android tablet versions all within a week of each other. Some of the other competing apps with huge development teams brag about launching their Android tablet version 6 months after their Android mobile version and a whole year after their iPhone version.

We have our iPhone/iPad version available at:

Our Android phone and tablet version is also available at:

We are a hybrid app in-a-way as we did have to write some native code for the push notifications. We mostly used phonegap plugins there and Sencha handles everything else.

Greatly appreciate any suggestions, or maybe catching some bugs that we missed.

Congratz with the app.

A little suggestion. Try enabling direction-lock on your main view. That way you can avoid the scrolling up and down while sliding the carousel from slide to slide.

I also noticed a little lag after loading a show for example.

Try press a show you want to see info on. After the loading screen is gone scroll down the page and you should see a lag or two.

I have seen this before, and it seems to come when using phoegap as a wrapper. Is this something you have seen while the app wasn't wrapped in PG or ever noticed before?

Shyre, thanks for the suggestions. Greatly appreciate it!

I do have directionLock set for the panles that are in the carousel. So if you start moving up/down, you can't move through the carousel left/right. However, when I put a directionLock on the carousel, it breaks my CSS and the views aren't shown. Haven't been able to figure it out yet so I'm trying to use some swipe events to lock the scrolling.

I'll have to try put the app without phonegap to see if that is what causes the lag. If so, have you found a solution previously?

Can't say that I have. :( what I have found out though is that when you don't include the phonegap.js file while packaging it with phonegap "I know it sound strange" the problem is gone but so are the phonegap features.

We actually released an app where we didn't include the phonegap.js file and lost some features just to get that " in our case" much better performance.

If or when I find out what the problem is, I will post it :)
