View Full Version : launching server from terminal

I'm slightly embarrassed to say it but I'm totally stuck on what is probably a very basic 'gotcha'. (Spit it out.)

If I type in terminal "~/code/geotweets: ) serve ." I get the error "-bash: syntax error near unexpected token `)'".

As you may guess I'm doing the Geotweets tutorial. Here's a screen grab.

I guess I'm probably in the wrong mode in Terminal, but the tutorial has no explanation of how the tutor has set up terminal.

Am I being a dufus? (If so don't say so just be nice. OK?)

I very much appreciate any help on this one. Any hints?

I'm a newb now but not forever

Hi DefStef,

Our friendly, neighbourhood dev-rel James Pearce has created two helpful tutorials to get started building with Sencha Touch.

1. Sencha Touch Quick Start: http://www.sencha.com/learn/sencha-touch-quick-start/
2. Hello World with Sencha Touch: http://www.sencha.com/learn/hello-world

Looks like you're getting hung up on the web server, but never fear -- you're on a Mac, so you have an easy platform to get started with mobile development.

Check out these tutorials and report back here with your results! Good luck,
