View Full Version : Sencha might need a better way to track bugs

I love ExtJs and think it is a great package.
Nevertheless, it is a bit disappointing to see fresh release [4.0.2] not taking bugs reported by the community into account, and especially when patches are proposed in the posts (for some examples, see the messages posted earlier).

It is difficult to know (as a forum user) what is being done with the bugs reported (have they been read? taken into account? assigned to anybody? given any priority ? ...) and a different ticketing/tracking/whatever system might help encouraging users to continue spend time on digging into the code and propose solutions.

Apart from that, again, thanks for this excellent product

+1 for this. Don't be ashamed of your bugs ;)

+1, definitely! I understand it may be annoying having to sort through masses of bugs within a bugtracker though, we experience the same :-)

Bugs get lost in the forum, Sencha really needs a public bug tracking solution.

Not really sure what to suggest, but Bugzilla seems to be used often - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org

i think the forum worked well for ext 3, but with ext 4 there are unless posts i think that are missed and unread by the developers. a lot of my posts was not changed into a pending state. also refactoring ext 4 late in rc lead to lot of documentation issues that was not catched by refactoring tools.

see grouped header example description! is it columns or headers or columns? ;-)

header: 'Category Header',
headers: [{
header: 'First Sub Header',
dataIndex: 'subHeaderField1'
}, {
header: 'Second Sub Header',
dataIndex: 'subHeaderField2'

that is the reason why i will wait half a year till the most major issues will be solved and not wasting time reporting issues that are not recognized/fixed.

All in all i love ext 3.x. Maybe ext 4.x in future.

Please read this thread (http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?133704-Sencha-should-have-a-bug-tracking-system-%21). I think: no chance!

Edit: Oh, and the Wiki API Docs (http://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?135381-Wiki-To-Suppliment-API-Docs) is a great idea
